A male wolf was found in snares in the Wałeckie Forest (NW Poland). Fortunately the wolf was alive, no seriously injured and has been released by foresters, which organised a rescue team. The Wałeckie Forest is inhabitetd by a single wolf pack. AfN "Wolf" conducts monitoring of this pack since 2006. We study their development and predation impact on local wild ungulates.
January 9th, 2009, an international action of winter wolf tracking was organized in the Cedyński Landscape Park near the Polish-German border. Tracking was conducted by the staff of the Polish Landscape Parks of the Lower Odra River (Blandyna Migdalska, Marek Puchalski, Andrzej Kaźmierczak and Grzegorz Bodys) and the German Lower Odra River National Park (Dirk Treichel, Heike Fleming, Tina Gutowsky, Michael Schmidt and Edgar Wendt). During the action tracks of two wolves were found.
Memmbers of AfN "Wolf" monitor the wolf population development in many areas of Poland. At the end of December 2008 and begining of 2009 our colleagues checked the Bory Tucholskie Forest (N Poland) in order to confirm the wolf presence there. The action was led by Karolina Karpowicz and Korneliusz Kurek.
